Can someone tell me the differenct betweem a 1979 F-150 Custom and a 1979 F-150 Ranger?? I have been looking for a 79 Ranger to restore and cant find one I like but I did come accross a 79 Custom that is nice. Any help wold be great.
more options STANDARD on the ranger. from what im told, a custom is named so because you could order it any way you wanted, even with all the options of a lariat, just without the name.
There are actually many different model ranges for 79' (Cheapest to Most Expensive)
Custom
Explorer Custom
Ranger
Explorer Ranger
Ranger XLT
Ranger Lariat
The F100 actually cost a little more than the F150 due to the extra emission controls and added sound deadening. The F100 was intended to have more of a car like ride than the F150 due to its looser springs and extra sound deadening material to cut out interior noise. Lots of "XLT" and "Lariat" models are F100's because of these reasons. If I were you, go with an "XLT" if you want features such as curse control, tilt steering, extra chrome trim, and woodgrain bezels. But if you do not care about the extras, the Ranger is the best version for the money. Well equipped interior and decent looking exterior with just the right amount of accessories.

I don't know where you got this information, but not a lot of it is right?
