So I would like to add some strength to my drivelines Do you have an Idea of how to get bigger ujoints on my 78 bronco D44/9" and a 205 tcase . I am not interested in swapping out the axles. If you know of some yokes that will be larger yet still work, that would be appreciated.
The guys will correct me if I'm wrong here but I think Warn used to make what they claimed were the indestructible version of the U-joints for the D44. As for the yokes, You could have just about any yoke put onto your drive-shafts and such for a price. The question is, where do you want the weakest link in your driveline to be? Replacing broken U-joints is simpler and less costly than broken axles or drive-shafts.
A side note since this brought the idea to mind: Warn makes what they call a HUB FUSE which will basically MAKE the splines in the front hubs the weakest point because they are the easiest to replace on the trail.
Bronco grave yard sells some Yukon joints that basically remove the needle bearings and replace them with bronze or brass bearings claiming they are industructable. I have also heard of the hub fuse as greystreak claims. I dont know if it is still made though.
you want to install like a 1350 ujoint or larger on your drivelines is that correct? If so you should contact a couple drive line shops to see what they would charge to do this. and you would be responsible for changing out the yoke on the Tcase and rear/front differential to the proper size as well. call this place, they build driveshafts for a great price any way you like. tell Eric that kemicalburns from FSB refered you.
