intake ?
i found a factory alum intake off a 5.8 H O how much better is that than my cast iron 4 bbl from the mid 80's. Also or should i just save up my money for a edelbrock performer intake??? all comments are welcome

Get an aftermarket intake, none of the stock pieces are worth more than thier weight in scrap. I'd also suggest a performer air gap... not just the regular performer which is a little too close to the stock intake to be much improvement.

Are you saying you have a stock Ford 351W (5.8) 4V aluminum intake? So far as I know, the only such intake was issued the early 70s as a muscle parts item.

There are other 351W/5.8 engines Ford chose to call "HO". The mid to late 80s Crown Vics had "HO" 2V engines. These were found in cop cars and some Canadian CVs. There appears to be nothing HO about them (I have one from a 1985 CV in the basement), but that's how they're designated in some of the Chilton and Motor manuals. They probably all had the aluminum 2V intakes.

They had the High Output Variable Veturi carbs on them. 
I had one in a 1980 CV police car. Had a C6 and a 3.08LS rear with dual exhaust. Chucked the VV for a Holley direct replacement. Ran strong after that.

I just got the numbers off of my 351W 2bbl aluminum intake PN: RF-E1AE-9425-FA Any idea what this came from? I thought of starting a new thread, but this seemed awfully close....sorry for any hijack.

The RF prefix is found often on newer parts. I don't know if it has any particular meaning. The E1AE translates to 1981 model year, full size Ford, engine group. But that just means that the part was originally designed for that particular purpose, and probably will have been used in many other applications (like Econolines).
The 9425 means it's an intake manifold, FA further narrows down the exact part. I've never seen these revision numbers decoded.
The earliest I've seen the aluminum 351W-2V intake was on a 1979 station wagon. It was a D9DE-9425-CB part.
