Trans seal Question
I have a 1999 F-250 Super Duty with a 7.3 porwerstroke with 102,000 miles. Truck had 64,000 on it when I bought it 2002.Have had 3 transmition pump seals go bad. I had a Ford shop put in a Ford reman trans 3.5 years ago guess what trans seal went out again. The warrenty was up 6 mounts ago now I have to fix it out of pocket. Any suggestions. thanks Dan

If it's the seal on the pump that has failed, I believe you need to pull the tranny to fix that. Is working on the tranny something you would consider yourself? If not, you might look into a built tranny from John Wood or Brian's Truck Shop so you don't have to worry about the tranny issues anymore.

I believe there is an upgraded seal that is a silicone-type rubber that is supposed to eliminate failure. The was a note in the seal package of my rebuild kit to that effect. Just did the rebuild last September. I don't know how long these seals have been available.
