I have always loved the look of a front end spare tire mount, but in all the hundred of pictures of the 87-91 ford trucks, I did not see even one set up.
Is this mount just out of style or are they just a pain in the butt and if anyone has a picture of one with the front mount please e-mail it to me.
Is there a base pattern for this mounts or are they made custom truck to truck.
I have a 1988 F-250 4X4 I want to install one on !!
Yes I agree, and would not have it mounted in the summer time.
I've noticed a lot of the old Fords and Chevys had the front mount, because
they used to carry those old over head campers in the 1960s and 1970s.
When the campers were fazed out they started mounting the spares in the bed or under the bed.
The front mounts were mainly on F-250s and C-25 Camper specials !
I just happened to see this while heading out to class this morning on my bike. I was sort of in a hurry so I couldn't get a better picture, and when I came back later it was gone...
But it was simply a ~1 foot piece of square tubing bolted onto the bumper vertically with a tire on it. Looked like it took somebody 20 minutes.
