A few days ago when it was 5 degrees in the morning, my truck dumped a lot of oil (OK, it looked like a lot but was probably 2 or 3 oz) from just above the cross member on the right side. It looks like it's coming from the two metal lines that have connectors just above the cross member running front to rear. As soon as the truck warmed up the leak stopped. And since it's been warmer it hasn't been leaking.
Does anyone know what are these lines for and are there o-rings in the connectors that could be affected by the cold? Any tips that might help me service these?
Is it oil or diesel? If by right side you mean passenger side it sounds just like the leak I had 2 weeks ago. Check the fuel drain tube for leaking. My fuel drain o-rings went bad and allowed fuel to drain past the drain valve when it was closed and out the tube.
The leak is on the drivers side. I think these are lines for the oil cooler?
Darn, fuel drain valve o-rings are easier than the oil cooler o-rings, if that is the problem. There have been a couple of recent threads about the oil cooler leaking. Here is a exploded view of oil cooler.
Powertrokeshop sells the o-rings and gaskets in a kit. If you need them I will send you the link.
I re-read your post and the only lines on that side are powersteering and hydroboost IIRC. They, of course. would leak ATF.
