I have had the edge evolution since I bought the truck, so about 3 years now. Never had any problems, until recently. I get into the truck, fire it up and the Edge will either light up with a blank screen or freezes on the splash screen. If I unplug it and plug it back in, I get the hex code, press enter and I'm good to go.
im guessing that your battery is getting a little weak...... i had an EDGE that did the same thing.... it had an older software version in it. EDGE said that it was sensitive to voltage drops, and would do just that. they actually changed the entire unit out for me, with the new designed pod too. so, you could be getting a lower voltage during startup with a weak battery..... is yours original?
I updated it once or twice in the beginning but that's it. Didn't want to mess with something that worked great. My battery has gone dead a couple times over the past few months so that could very well be the problem. I'll keep you guys posted.
I had the same problem. Called EDGE they said to unplug for 5 sec. then plug back in .Reason- my truck sits a lot and the battery goes below 12V. This is normal, you will probely get that HEX message for 3 start up's, push ENTER and all will be well. The frist time I did this I was scared I'd mess something up, but I've never had a problem.

actually, you will get the HEX message everytime you unplug the unit.... it is the warranty disclaimer that only shows up 3 times. and, in your case it is normal if your truck sits, but for a truck that is driven daily, it is not normal, and is a sign of a weak battery.
