Exaust Pipe Size

I have a 81 f-150 with a 302, added a eldelbrock 4v carb, intake, plus performer cam. we will add the headers, and 40 series flow masters later, I wanted your input on size of dual exaust pipe, what would be best, 2 1/4",or 2 1/2" also how long, and what size tip extention. I just want it to sound good.

Exaust Pipe Size

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-13-03 AT 08:55 PM (EST)]I reccomend 2.25 size. I would say just run the pipes over the axle out under the axle to some 3-3.5" stainless, slant cut tips, about 24" long if you can.

I agree, if you go too large, especially with a smaller displacement engine, it just sounds bad. Been there done that.

Well that plus, you're going to lose some torque if you go too big.
