Header Headache - Gone, finally!!

You may remember I ordered a Third Set of Headers recently after not being able to get either the Hot Coated Dynojunk or the Sandersons FF427 to work, both had serious port mismatches and fitment issues. So I followed some reccomendations from FTE members and ordered from Ford Powertrain Applications (FPA). Not inexpensive (Coated headers and shipping left a $634.00 scar on my plastic). But they had a perfect port match and fit -except some adjusting on pass. side.

Here is a copy of e mail I sent Stan at FPA (who only deals with Fords and was super helpful through out).

Hi Stan - well the Tri-Y headers for my 67 F100 with the 390 FE came yesterday and I rushed them over to the shop where my truck is at, and we took them out of box and put the new copper gaskets on them and the port match was perfect. And it was obvious that you had worked on the insides of the tubes at the flanges to insure they matched. We were impressed with the machined smoothness of engine side of flanges and the fact that you actually had tack welded the back sides of flanges around tubes as well as the full welds on the engine side. Drivers side header fit perfect. Passenger side however was so close to frame that they felt that had to cut some clearance into frame (1/4" or so) for engine movement. Other than that and a serious run in the Hot Coating on one of the flanges, they are on and will be getting an exhaust next. I'm telling everyone I know about your headers. I don't know if you checked into advertising on FTE (ford-trucks.com) yet but your stuff would be a natural for their web site viewer/membership. Thanks, Trevor Rush the CACWBY.
