Inline 6 exhaust help

I have 85 f150 with the 300 inline six in it. I'm doing a little work on it, and would consider adding an exhaust system. Is there anything out threre that can make my 4.9 to sound good? If so, are they pricey, and could it be installed myself? Thanks

"good" is a subjective term in this kind of sense, but i would start by tearing out the old piping and putting in 2.5" pipe to a flowmaster or other turbo muffler. if you dont have emmisions, you can also trash the cats. for another unique sound, put on a set of headers, theyll help in both power and sound departments. none of this is really hard or too expensive, 50-60 bucks for a muffler, 250 or so for the headers. it can all be done your self with clamps, but you really should get the system welded together for durability.

I believe the later model 300s had a split exhaust manifold. You could get one and make it dual exhaust. That would be cool on a 6 banger.
