Removing Cat, maybe
I have a 92 F150, 300-6. Both cats are still on the truck with a performance muffler. I am wondering what I can remove without affecting the truck in a negitive way. I want to remove both the cats and the muffler and put a pipe through. I was told if I remove the Cats that fuel economy would go down. I was also told that if I remove the cats I need to replace the O2 sensor with a heated O2 sensor. Any thoughts.

Removing your cats is not only illegal its irresonsible. All of us complain about stupid laws that close four wheeling areas because some morons left trash all over them or destroyed trails by off roading irresposibly. Removing your cat is the same thing, its giving manufacturers reasons for making it more difficult to do any engine mods, and the government reasons for passing rediculus laws. Not only that, but the cats were put on your truck for a reason, they curb pollution. Be resonsible, catco makes a high flow cat that will replace the stock cats with an increase in engine perfomance.

I did post a message in the Minnesotta chapter asking about the law on removing the cat. I am going to a muffler shop this afternoon for prices on exhaust systems. Hence the reason for the "maybe" in the subject title. My intentions were, if it was legal to pull them, then I would, if not, then I would replace them with the HiFlow cats. I just wanted all the info up front before I did anything to the truck.
