Vinyl Tops
Now I have a question I was driving with a friend of mine when we saw a 1976 extra cab f150 truck with a vinyl top and he said " vinyl tops on ford trucks meant there was a defect from the factory on the roof of the cab". does anyone know if this true or not? or have any ideas, or if Ford ever made any trucks with vinyl tops for that matter because I have only seen one with a vinyl top.

1968 F-series Explorer Specials, had Vinyl tops as standard equipment.
Other than that, I believe it was a dealer option.
Unless the 1976 XLT Luxury Group had a option for a vinyl top. Those trucks were very plush. Don't know.
There was also this stuff that you could paint over your roof, using a roller that simulated a vinyl top.
I'm going way back in my memory, so it may cheat a little. Numberdummy may know.
