I have an '03 F350 with the 6.0PSD. I'm wondering if I could fit 42" tires on it with an 8" lift and cutout fender flares? I know 38.5's will clear OK on a 5.5" without cutouts so I thought it'd be close. Any one have any ideas?
Oh yeah, they're 42x15x20 Super Swamper TSL SX II's
8 inches might be cutting it close. Check out the pics in the link of the 99 SD, running 42s with 8 inches in the springs, and 3.5 in the shackles. Brads 4x4 - Trucks & Golf Carts
But by the time you're talking about 42s, you need to be considering more than just the lift kit to clear them. You need to start looking into some steering work, gears, getting new driveshafts made, and maybe upgrading the axle shafts and u joints. Presuming, of course, that you want a truck with 4wd and not a speed bump crawler.
Awesome! Thanks for the help! As much as I'd like to think otherwise, the truck will be mainly a speedbump crawler. I will be backing it up with the ability to off road properly in the future but for now I just want the stance. Mine is the smallest truck in my group of friends and it's starting to get to me I was hoping that with the extra few inches cut out of the wheel wells, with the fender flares It'd make it an alright rig.
38.5's with 5.5 must look retarded. Anything more then a speed bump would probably crush the fenders. I have an 8'' adn I run 36's...Could clear 38's but that would be the MAX. To clear 42's and not look retarded you will need atleast 10'' but 12'' would be optimum.
For you guys with the larger tires, where is it that they usually hit? Is it on the fenders or is it on the suspension itself? I was hoping that with the 2 or so inches gained from the cutouts I would have the room (Product Image) I'm not opposed to the higher lift but my Girl is only 5 foot tall so for every extra inch I go up, it's that much extra whining I have to endure.
