Parts

OK, I took the groups advice and welded the rear shock mounts back to the axle. All's fine there.

Now, the wife is complaining because she can not open the passanger door or roll down the window because both handles are stripped. What are the best couple of online part catalogs you recommend?

1964 f100

Thanks.

Tom

If the handles themselves are stripped thats an easy fix...I have some NOS 2nds...the cranks ***** arent perfect...but the chrome is good...if after you get the handles off the regulator and door mechanism is bad I dont have a window regulator but I would need to dbl check on the door opening mechanism.
Drop me an email or message for price on the handles if interested. Are you only needing the inside handle and window crank for 1 door or both ??

Ha ha, pretty funny but not too helpful. I've browsed thru a few parts catalogs I found with Google but there must be one or two the group recommends.

I had some extra doors last time this happened. May try some scrap yards and pray. I'm sure someone still makes them, but doubt you will enjoy the price.

So this didn't happen to my new old ones, I took my handle down to fastenal and had them give me a allen screw/bolt to replace the phillips head screw/bolt. Never could get the phillips head as tight as I thought it should be. The allens work like a charm.

Most times the handles are not stripped only installed incorrectly.

If the handle spins the shaft may be toast, remove them and inspect the splines on the shafts. if these are bad you are SOL. You need new window regulator or as some enterprising persons do some vice grips till new or used can be sourced.

The regulators are available new from just about every FTE supporting vendor.

If they are not stripped back out the screw and push in the handle fully and tighten up the screw.
