Steering Linkage

I have a 1976 F-150 4wd with the stock "inverted Y" steering linkage and I would like to exchange it for the later model "inverted T" style linkage. Anything I need to be aware of when doing this? Do I need a different pitman arm? Will another pitman arm fit on my steering box? Anyone with experience in this area your thoughts would be appreciated.

I cant tell you the answer but I think the best way to do this would be to find a parts truck with everything in the steering intact. Then Just swap the parts. If the pitman arm isn't correct and it won't fit your steering box, swap boxes.

Everything is the same. The tapper for the TRE is identical.
You will love the new steering. You also have the option to install the larger 1 ton chevy style stuff. They offer some real heavy duty stuff.

Thanks for the info. Any experience with the after-market steering shafts (Borgeson or similar). They worth the money?
