Im sure this question was asked many of times already but i dont know the site well enough to find anything on it SO PLEASE HELP!!! i have a 2001 f250sd 5.4l and i am looking for a leveling kit for it, can anyone tell me whats a good kit and also how hard are they to install and the price they go for. Come on guys help a fellow FTE out
I used the Tuff Country mini leaf pack. It will require removing the old u-bolts, taking the center bolt out of the factory spring pack, attaching the new springs to the old ones with a new center bolt, replacing the factory trac bar bracket and re-installing everything. If you have the correct tools and maybe someone to help, you can do it in around 4-5 hours.
Diddo for me too. Had to actually "add-a-leaf" to the rear.
I bet I got close to 4". My truck had some honkin springs in the rear. The stock blocks had been removed. I put the stock ones back in and it was perfect. With my current truck I used the drop hangers.
I went with the Summit Leveling kit, it looked very simalar to the Tuff Country kit and I had some Summit Bucks saved up so I went for it. I am happy with it. Installation was strait forward the only issuse I had was that the brake lines would not stretch far enough to get the new leafs in. And the centering pins in the old leafs had to be cut off. I too feel I got more lift than advertised, I will probably do and add-a-leaf in the rear to make it right. Remember there are different kits for gas and diesel.
Oh, and the other issue I had was the steering wheel was about 90 degrees out of whack, I had to adjust the drag link the straten it out, some guys have to do this, some dont.
