82 150 electrical whats needed?

hey hey FTE, damn its been a long long time since ive been here, over a year lol, Ive been using my 82 f150 as a daily driver for about a year, and finally took her off the road to do some little things ive been meaning to do for a while... I put full length headers on and it wasnt very much fun, I drove to every parts store in my area multiple times looking for odds and ends... the collector diameter was 2 and a half inches odd size so had to see the exhaust man for the flanges to start the tube back! I routed on the outside of the frame and it 45s out right before the rear tires. when doing my headers I figured id just clean up the engine alitte bit.. rip out basiclly every wire that is just ... doin nothing. i realized that there is A LOT of stuff that is not used!!! well for emmisions it is but not really. i have capped off most all the vaccum ports, and am still doing the wiring clean out. today i hope to get it ziptied and taped and put these nice valve covers and little odds and ends crome stuff on, its been in my basement forever. does anyone have a schmatic of the wiring.. im wondering what is really needed and what is not. i have a pretty good idea, but hey if there is knowledge out there, itd be appreciated.. ive got i think all emmisions stuff out. i had like 13 different wiring plugs that werent hooked up to anything, i ripped those wires out and cut them in an out of sight place ill cap them with something so no issues happen........im just hoping i diddnt need any of it, or dont need it some point later down the line, but lol what would i need it for? holy crap i diddnt know i could type this much. thanks for readin

They have good wiring diagrams in the back of the Haynes manual.

You guys amaze me. Over and over people write in "I am taking the emissions stuff out" and "cutting out the extra wiring" to clean up the engine compartment. But they don't have a clue what they are taking off, and what it's for. It just "looks" like it's not needed, so "I am taking it off". I hope it runs ok afterward, lots of times it will not.

If you are going to do this, you need to know what every line and every wire does, and the consequences for taking it off.

ok.. douche.. yeah, i got the manual.. and i drove the truck around town and it runs great. none of the wires i clipped had anything hooked up to them, just empty plugs, at one time they were disabled. i dont have a 97 ford here. its an 82, it runs perfect. i know what the purpose of an egr valve is, i know what a smog pump does, i know about canisters and vacuum, and i know that in just one post, you dont like me or you think you are better than me, because your a moderator have 14000 posts you are a shark in all the postings on this site, dude .. way to be a dick. your saying a ****load of people ask about this stuff? well how about making some kind of FAQ section with you opinion on that. I know you are going to delete this, i dont care. just figured id give you my ****ty opinion, since you gave me your ****ty opinion. lol get all your fte buddies to flag me now.

You're entitled to modify your engine bay. He's got the experience of reading time and time again how "my truck runs like crap, the previous owner removed all the emission stuff and make a homemade wiring harness from hell, can someone tell me how to hook this stuff up?" Over and over again.

I must have been having a bad day yesterday, because all I am doing today is apologizing. Sorry dude. I always have a rule I try to keep on this board, and I catch myself sometimes by not hitting the "submit" button, but I did hit it a couple of times recently. The rule is if I don't have anything good or positive to say, don't say anything.

lol sorry franklin, i was just posting to see what people may or may not add, i wasnt meaning to be the guy that comes off like a jerk asking questions that get a thumbs down in the forums, i dont think anyone wants that. I can understand the point you made, honestly. i will post some pics of the truck and engine bay, ive done a lot of work to her and it shows in my opinion, i love parking in a busy parking lot and seeing the old timers come over and shoot the crap. i became friends with a guy in a metal shop years back and skirted the truck with diamond plate.
