I like the looks of my cross-box toolbox but for real-world-use, a couple
long skinny ones running inside the bed, just above the wheel wells would
be handy as anything. And not but a few inches higher than the bed sides.
Is that what you mean? :)
Wide bed or flare side?
I had a company truck (short narrow bed Chevy) that had "side bins" bolted
in place of the fenders, it was a really cool little truck with the 4 speed and
a 292 hot-water-six. ;)
Drove over a washed out section of road one night, on purpose but too slow,
and the rear wheels were a good foot off the ground. LOL :) I jacked up the
wheels by putting the high lift jack right -in- the wheel and put rocks under
the tires to get enough traction to drag off the bank. I tried digging a little
behind the rear step bumper thinking I could get the bank to collapse, but
it was too rocky/sandy/wet/solid. The operation was so quick it never really
slowed me up that night. ;) (RR signal trouble after a storm)
The guy that took over that job and got that pickup (I'd got it brand new)
totaled it by leaving it idling and it rolled down the hill into a canyon. LOL :)
Both of those stories happened in Steins Pass, New Mexico.
