dropping the front end

I have a 64 short bed (hence, my name)and was wondering if anyone has a good, safe and economical way to drop the front end 2-3". I have heard that you can remove a couple of leafs from the springs, is this advisable? What else would be involved? Has anyone used another method with good results? Thanks for the help.

I would advise using a drop axle or MustangII front end, if you lower it by altering the springs you will lose suspension travel. When the front axle bottoms out on the bump stops/frame it is real scarry!! (I've been there).
