I'm cruising down the feeder going 50+ MPH when I get this bright idea to stick my head out my window. I thought my tire was going flat so I wanted to make sure I wasn't riding on my rim. Anyway, I forgot to take my hat off. I'm sure you all can guess what happens to my hat. I thought it was gone for good! I come home a little irritated I lost my favorite hat. Later on in the day I went to grab my sun glasses when I just so happen to look in my bed.
Guess what I saw wrapped around my bungie cord?
Edit: I forgot to mention my tailgate was up while I was driving. I lowered it to get better light in order to take a decent picture.
Funny you should mention that...I had a similar experience recently. I was working on my dad's car and had the truck parked next to it with my tools in the back. I kept bumping my cellphone against the car as I worked and it was annoying me so I unclipped it and set it on top of (not in) the pass. side front stake pocket. When I determined what part was needed, I hopped in the truck and drove the three miles (about two of them on the freeway) to the nearest parts store. They didn't have the part so I drove through town to the other store, who also didn't have it.
I then got on the highway and headed to the nearest wrecking yard in hopes of finding a used part. About halfway there, I glanced down at the console where I usually put my cellphone while driving and realized it wasn't there...I grabbed at my hip and it wasn't there either. I thought back and suddenly flashed on it sitting atop that stake pocket and my stomach flip-flopped for a second, then I glanced out the back window to see my cellphone still sitting right where I'd left it, so I pulled over, got out and picked it up. It wasn't stuck or anything, it came away with no resistance. How it stayed there, I have no idea as I wasn't exactly driving slowly, I'd accelerated pretty good pulling onto the freeway and had gone around numerous corners at decent pace...
Whenever something extraordinarily lucky like that happens, I figure it's not worth blowing my money on a lottery ticket as I probably just used up my share of luck...
Even a blind bird gets a worm once in awhile.......
A little piece of luck like that really makes your day. Your world would not have ended without your favorite hat. you had resigned yourself to its loss and vowed to move on with your life.
And, POOF!, there it was! Puts a little spring in yer step when stuff like that hapens to you.

Yes it does! I certainly had a step in my spring all day.
