Ranger front end issues. please help.
so... I just took my 1998 4wd ranger into the local ford dealer for an alignment. It cost me $300. when I got it back, it did track straight. What did happen, is when you touch the brakes and hit a bump the whole front end starts to slam around, like just about took the wheel out of my hands. This happened at roughly 30mph. This did not happen before it went in to the shop.
I just replaced all the ball joints, and tie rod ends. The only parts I didnt replace are the shocks themselves...
Any ideas?

My dad's Blazer had the same problem after an alignment. For the life of me I can't remember what it was they forgot to tighten down - but the alignment shop forgot to tighten down something. The alignment shop screwed up, don't start replacing things - take it back.

One of the guys I work with had his 4x4 F150 do sometihng similar after FORD repaired his front end. His issue was the front end wasn't torqued correctly i.e. they worked on the passenger side without loosening the drivers side, at about 40mph it feelt like you were on railrode tracks. A "Good Ol' Boy" at a local shop loosened the front end completely, grabbed the axel and shook it like a rag doll, then procceded to re-torque the front end 'in sequence'. Smoot as glass now.
