Today is Friday, 02 January. The last day of my lay-off. Monday, I go back to work. Now, do I spend today being productive around the house, or go to the casino to play in the daytime poker tournament? Hmmmm.
Hey Ches, you being a Orielly's man. Can you help me, (shut up Terry)........... My 79 is on it's 4th Orielly battery. The first went 10 month's, 6 on the 2nd, this last battery went only 2 months. Number 4 is in the truck now. They've been really good when they see me walk in carrying another battery. But 4, have you seen this many? I've checked the trucks charging system time and time again. Have added additional grounds, frame and block, and one from the block, to cab. Bob
Is the truck driven every day? what is the part # on the battery? how meny CCA is it powerfull enough for the truck?
the ony thing that comes to mind is a slow drain or a over charge that over time shorts out the cells.
but yes I have seen some batterys that just don't hold up but 3 in a row is hard to believe! Sorry
Try putting a amp meter between the + cable and the battey to test if there is a draw there should be no draw. if there is any draw unplug one fuse at a time until you have no draw that will be the system you need to look into more.
Everything except the stereo is aftermarket. It only keeps constant power for the clock and preset memory. All's fine, allway's cranks right up, then one day out of the blue (BAM) dead.....
No the 79 isn't driven daily, mostly on a day off just running around town.
Bob
well bummer at least Oreilly's stands behind the batteries for you. If you want I'll trade the pinto for your truck then you don't have to worry any more!
I went out to fix the garage doors again (blew in during the winds last night)and it was to cold to work on the pinto gas tank. so no time in the shop today. I need new garage doors if any on has used set?
BOB I was thinking I've not seen you on much lately. I sent you a text on X-mas but got no reply I wonder if I still have the right cell number for you?
No Ches I haven't been on much lately. We normally have two computers going in the house. My wife works from home and use's a computer constantly. So that leaves me and two teenagers to the other. Well that other one petered out (with 6 day's of warranty left) and is still in the shop. Thanks to me being a craigslist JUNKIE. I have ME a working computer in my room (garage). After being here in Ozark two years we finally changes our area code to be a "local". I'll pm you with my new cell. But none of the phones have texting after my son racked us up $80 additional on last month's bill. So I wacked all the extras on all four phones. Bob
I drive past you on 65 to work every day. I work at the O'reillys in hollister, live out past reedsprings let me know if you need help I love these old trucks
