Need clarification
Heres my question. I own a "65 s/b 2wd Custom Cab, and am in the process of making it into a street rod. However, I am confused about a few things. It is my understanding that 65-79, the front suspension (I-beam, spindles, etc.) are universal. However, some websites that sell lowered I-beams list beams for truck years 65-74, then 75-79, others list 65-79 as the same. Also, I read the excellent article by Ken Payne regarding drum to disk swap in 65-72 vehicles. He lists in there for 65-66, to use spindles, rotors and calipers from a '74 model. With this in mind, if I lower the truck with an aftermarket 65-79 I-beam, then the year issue would be mute as long as I use disk components within those years. Correct???? If anyone has any input or can set me straight, I will surely appreciate it. (Sorry if I am rambling)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I did some research and FINALLY found out that as far as doing a complete change over of I-beams, they are a direct bolt-in match. The difference in 65-74 vs. 75-79, is king pin size. 75-79 's use a larger ( king pin than the earlier models. Thanks agaion for you info. Who has the forged drop beams, I can only find welded beams.?
