Does a 2007 5.4 XLT have to worry about bad injectors leading to the Coil-On-Plugs seizing up?
I've spent considerable time reading about this, and am thinking I am all right, but would like to hear it from one of the resident experts.
Yes, I am talking about stuck spark plugs...do '07 models have this potential problem?
Sorry, I probably shouldn't have described it as seizing up. I thought I read something that related the injector problem to the spark plug problem.
Build date on the engine is August, 2006. The truck has 24,000 miles on it so, I will probably ask the dealer to do a plug change and use nickel anti-seize on the new plugs. If I have this done while still under warranty maybe they will do it for a reasonable price. (Ha-ha, wishful thinking, I know!)
On another note, my entire engine bay seems to be covered with a layer of salt dust. There are even several parts that seem to be awful rusted for a 2007 truck. The pics show both of these concerns...any thoughts?
Ryan, the pics show up for me...hopefully I loaded them correctly.
The salt dust I am not too concerned with, as I can rinse it off, but the rusted parts have got me a bit bummed out!
Well, I tried again with the pics. They are posted on Ofoto and I copied the url when directed by the icon.
I sprayed off the salt dust, so we'll see if it accumulates again. I've lived in Michigan for over 50 years, and I have never seen that amount of salt on the TOP of an engine. The rusted parts are very evident, imo, for an '07.
I'm going to the dealer today, so we'll see what they say. I'm also bringing up the spark plug issue, it will be kind of a test to see how competent (and forthright) they are.
