fuel pressure regulator
I have a 1991 Ford F150 regular cab 4x4 automatic with a 5.0 fuel injected v-8. The problem with this truck is it wont idle and runs very poor. Can smell that it is burning very rich. Changed plugs wires cap and rotor didnt change it at all. no codes found in the computer. The spark plugs where completley carbon fouled (amazed it started at all) I just got the truck from my brother. He drove it to my house (about 25 miles) we sat and talked for awhile and when he left I went for a trip in it to test it out, it ran well untill i got 2 blocks from the house. Now it wont idle and runs really crappy. Also smokes alot out of the pipe (black fuel rich exhaust). This runnability problem was before i swapped out plugs wires and cap and rotor. I am leaning towards the fuel regulator. The truck idles for about 3-5 minutes then dies. I have to step on the gas to start it after it does this. Can get the truck to move but with alot of throttle play. Am i on the right track with the regulator?
Oh ya does it on both fuel tanks.

Yes, pull the vacuum line off to see if you get any fuel out the top, if you do it's busted. Also check the pressure, should be about 35psi idle and 40psi when throttle is blipped or vacuum line removed.
