Well after 7 months of trying to get orders in the navy and having orders to nebraska and then having them pull them and then having different orders and having them pull those also. I made one of the biggest decisions of my life yesterday to seperate from the navy. This is going to be so hard especially with a wife and 2 very young kids, but I think it is the best and I am tired of getting jacked around by the military since they are trying to downsize.
So my question is I have no idea what to do now for a job. I am an aviation mechanic right now and have put in many resumes to lots of the places in wichita but haven't heard anything. Anybody know of any other good paying jobs in wichita or in that area. I am looking into moving there when we get out. I am originally from lebo but there ain't much around there besides wolf creek and my dad works there so it would be hard to get hired. Any info is appreciated.
There are allot of layoffs right now in the avation industry. They had a strike that lasted almost a year, causing a huge downturn -- Are you good mechanically? And have some electronics backround? (Aviation so I am assumin g you do) We might be hiring... Company van, easy work, lots of training.... There is a downside On call every 4 or 5 weeks, Sometimes bank people are um... finicky, demanding, and only care about the bottom line. Overall it is not a bad carreer at all. PM me if you want more info -
Yeah, aircraft is a little slow right now, and always around the holidays. Three of the big companies are laying off and Spirit's sitting tight as far as I know (that's where I work).
Things should pick back up in a few months after we change presidents and things settle down. Presidential election years are always slow, plus the economy's in a hole.
wander up to Salina when you have some time, and check at KSU Aviation Department, there may be something that they need that your field might be helpful in. They offer courses in your field, perhaps they could use another instructor, or someone to maintain the planes that they use to train new pilots.
Curtis I told him about working for us... but he went on line and it said there was no openings for Wichita. I emailed Mike but he is probably off today.
