fuel bleed

fuel bleed

the fuel bleeds down over nite so I need to prime every morning.I drive a 84 F250 4X4 banks turbo 4 speed manual.where do I start please help.

Fuel system does not retain a pressure........ it is a open circle from the tank right back to the tank...... If there is an air leak into the system then drain off will occur requiring a re prime.

Visit...... Ford diesel 6.9 7.3 IDI do some reading and a few tests..... you will find the air leak and solve the problem.

Do you still have the water separator on the firewall by the booster.......

yes I still have the water separator, looks like it the original one. if the leak is on the delivery side I would think I could see it.

If there is a leak (and it is likely) in the water seperator then it will be from the drain. You can plug the drain with a bolt of similar or bypass the seperator. I bet that is your problem.

Air leaking in is much harder to find and is really a much bigger issue than fuel leaking out.

Fuel leaking out does make a mess and is a slight fire hazzard, but at least you can see where it is coming from.

Air leaking in, guaranteed hard starts and no clue where the leak is located.

The 86 and earlier water seperators are famous for letting air in.

I want to thank everyone again for your support,I did the bypass surgery today, hope she makes it through the night.
