muffler size help

muffler size help
i am needing a new muffler my pip is 3" stock i think. i found a semi used 40series flowmaster thats 2.75 od would this hurt my truck or would it be ok i plan on dualing it in about 2 months with the 2.75 size but can i down size the muffler for now

Shouldn't "hurt" anything.
Pretty much anything post cats isn't going to gain you much performance. What might gain you performance is just running correct sized pipe post cat or a straight through glass pack / muffler.
