OK. Im new here, so please take it easy on me. Im die hard ford, have no worrys. I have a 1990 f150 with I6 300. I want to swap in a 5.0 302 from an 87. I have the engine and all accessories and wiring. Im an OK mechanic, so I know the basics. My main question has to due with the fuel system. I replaced both my intake pumps and all my lines about 2 years ago at around 1200 bucks, so I am trying to use them still. The 87 302 motor uses a lower fuel pressure than the 90 300, but will the fuel system I have still work. I believe it is a return style system, so my thinking was that the extra fuel would just recirculate back to the tank. Will the lines hook up about the same or is there many changes needed to be made there? I know some of you probably get tired of these motor swap questions, but I am just hoping someone has maybe done this same swap and I could get in touch with you. I am currently in Iraq, so I cant run out and look at the truck if you ask. But I will be home very very shortly. please just throw me some suggestion if you have them. You can email me directly if you would like at ron.lohrum@us.army.mil
Thanks so much

The fuel system should be okay as far as pressure goes, as long as you use the fuel pressure regulator from the 302. Attaching the lines to the fuel rail shouldn't be too big of an issue, but if something didn't match off of the 87 engine, I'm sure you could get the rail off of a 90 302 and be good to go. The lengths of the lines might be slightly different, but I can't remember where the rail attachment points are on the 300 to tell you for sure. It would only be a problem if the 300 lines were shorter than those needed for the 302.
Hello Ron. Don't have much to add here. Just wanted to say keep us informed on the swap and let us know what you think about it. Are you building a performer? A built 302 ought to give your skinny pedal plenty of weight!
