Pulling the trigger on Appearance Upgrades

Well... I'm finally going to do it.

As it is now.... solid white exterior, some large chips in paint above fuel filler door, hood, dent in rear edge of hood behind wiper arm, large dent in lower rear passenger panel in front of rear passenger tire, badly repaired damage around passenger front door handle from previous break-in (before I purchased the truck).

What I'm going to do:
-Install Bushwacker Street Style flares (part # 20504-02, full set of 4)
-Dent repairs
-paint touch-ups and clear coat for chipped paint
-Two-tone the bottoms of the side panels to match the dark gray interior trim
-New flares will be color-matched to the new two-tone

Price of all work at the body shop is $750 (the side panel repair alone was quoted at $300-$1500 and I'm using the least expensive shop, and he quoted the hood repair at $75 and the door handle repair at $75, which makes the two-toning and fender flare painting portion less than $300).

New flares, delivered from (4 Wheel Online), cost $280 (other shops/dealers priced the same set at $291-$439 for the full set, most being priced at $300-$330).

TIC = $1030. All money is set aside and ready to pay cash for the whole thing.

The guy doing the work has just finished doing a good bit of touch-up work on my son's 2005 Jetta, and he does excellent work! Can't even tell where the original chips were in my son's paint. The places that didn't come out perfect the first time, he stood behind his work and made it perfect on the second go-round.

Time-line... the flares are on order right now, and the truck will get painted before the end of January.

I'll post pics of the before/after.

As soon as I get that completed, I'll be setting up for the front end leveling kit, new Bilsteins, and then start setting aside the money for gauges and exhaust.

While saving those pennies, I'll finish my 2008 console mod and finally get to install my GPR LED mod, Marinco adapter, and extra backup lighting that's all been sitting in the garage too long already.

Well, like I said, he's already done work for my son, and is gettign ready to handle a small insurance claim for a driver door non-collision dent in his Jetta as well, and I think I'm benefitting from the fact that he's already received work from us and wants to keep us happy.

Should look very good Pete. I did the dark gray two tone on my old 2000 and I liked it very much. I don't have any pictures of it anymore though.

Way to help out the economy, Pete.

Sounds like some nice stuff. I'm thinking about a billet grille for my truck.

That ought to look really good. I've been seriously considering getting some fender flares, but I want the ones that are the pocket style.

Well, I've just added one more mod between the paint/body work and my other future plans...

Thanks to Chase (superduty4x4), I got an excellent deal on a 6.0L IC with new boots and clamps, which will be installed in the next several weeks as well.

Just a simple update. I have the flares, but with the economy the way it is and things really, really slow at work right now... I'm just holding the cash until I gain more confidence in my ability to keep things afloat at work.
