Thought I'd ask here -- there are peeps that know all kinds of stuff.
I'm looking for a source for a small amount of oleic acid -- hopefully in liquid form.
Found an article on about.com that described making liquid magnets -- looked like it could be fun. One of the items needed was oleic acid, which they said you could probably get from a health food store or pharmacy. Maybe when places carried a lot of odds and ends -- not so much any more.
Looked on the net, but could only find places that wanted to sell it in bulk for
a hundred bucks or so -- the project doesn't look like it would be that much fun.
Heres better deal I found after I got some off ebay to clean up rusty bike parts of you can get it at most local hardware stores as Wood Bleach. The Chemistry Store.com Inc: Products & Services
Sorry I am not awake yet I thought you were looking for Oxalic acid

IIRC GM was playing with this stuff in shock absorbers for CARS of all things. It could be computer controlled and go STIFFER than stiffer at will..... Seemed to me like a case of some idiot clamps a speaker magnet to the body of the shock to raise his suspension, then cries about GM not warrantying the shock mounts when he busted them.....
