i usually dont stray to far away from the 7.3 forum but i figured i'd check with yall on this.. I am looking at 2 84 area f-250. both are 4wd and both have 460's. one is auto one is 4speed. they are retired fire trucks..(brush). one has a blown motor (threw rod in route to fire) i drove the running one with the 4spd and it runs good.. really good actually. both have some sort of flat bed one is bigger and better. I would probably swap it over to the running truck. I know these things have probably been run hard but for a farm truck it would make a great one. my questions are this What are they worth? there is little stuff i will have to do like finish taking all the wires for the lightbars out but both have good sets of mud tires etc.. both have edelbrock carbs. i like the idea of a runner and a doner truck... i did notice that the runner had no coolant resivour just a jug with a tube in it. Im pretty sure the air will work just hook the main wire back up. I wanna get yal's opinion before i reveal the price. so let um roll whatcha got?
fire trucks usally don't have a lot of miles on them, alot of idle time though,i agree with geezer 43 $1,000 . nice to have that parts truck.i think ol big red was in the fire service, can see the gum from the decals, and extra wiring inside.
thats a good steal. id ****** em up immediatly if i was you. the 460 is a really good strong motor. and for a farm truck its perfect. and if anything really craps out you have a donor truck. 1000 is a great deal. just do it before the new year so it shows up on this years tax return.
i'm searching for an overdrive trans might get 12-13 mpg with that.but when i was on the farm an overdrive trans was no use.most of the time it wasn't out of 2nd gear.now not on farm od would be nice, love driving that truck but can't afford it.
Congrats on the Fire Truck. Looks sweet! I like the bed; you could do a lot with it. Mount some tool boxes/storage bins on the sides below the bed and your all set. Well, maybe add a home brewed York on-bord air setup... Post more pics.
