Help...Transmission Cover

I just took the transmission cover off of my 1963 F100 today to pull out the **** carpeting that was between it and the transmission to discover that the cover had been held on by tar and silicone sealant. I have looked for the covers hardware eveywhere that I can think of ( Sacramento Vintage Ford, LMC Truck, National Parts Depot and Blue Oval Truck Parts ) but cant seem to find it, I am missing the threaded clips that are in the cab floor. Does anyone know where I can find it ???

I think they are just standard hardware. Do you have a fastenall store around.
If the link works see if these are what you need.

CAGE NUT 1/4 | Fastenal

http://www.fastenal.com/web/products...l.ex?sku=37974

The second link is for 5/16" nuts which are probably the ones.

Maybe something more like these.

5/16"-18 Panel Range:.025"-.150" Center 9/16" Extruded U Nut | Fastenal

You should be able to find ones like these in various sizes through NAPA or any good body shop supply source.

Go to Napa and look in their Balkamp book, they might even have them on the shelf.

The holes were stamped square on the stock floor pan and use a spring cage nut. Dearborn classics carry them as do some specialty fasteners. They are junk stock and easily fall out and are lost.

One can also replace them if one is not concerned with 100 percent points correctness with j-nuts of the correct depth readily available at any NAPA in the specialty fastener bins. As bill mentioned the same J-nuts holding the front end sheet metal together.

Is your floor pan stamped with square holes? The 61 to 64 pan is fairly large and may have been added in. It goes under the stock floor mat or aftermarket mat or carpet.

all the factory used between the floor pan and the cover metal is dum-dum. (3M strip caulk)

The fasenall links posted give a good look at the cage nuts used in the floor or the J nut alternate. With Cage nuts you need to get them for the hole that was stamped, not by thread size. They have a specified range of fitment.

1961/69 F100/1100 / 1961/69 N/NT/T500/1100

359218S2 .. Retainer Nut / 5/16" -24.

351487S .. Star Washer-External Tooth / 3/8"

50540S8 .. Phillips Pan Head Screw / 5/16" -24 x 3/4"

44722S8 .. Flat Washer / 5/16"

I ran the retainer nut's Ford hardware part number on two online parts locator sites-No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
