Rear Brakes

Greetings! My van is a super duty, and I didn't get much response on the van section, so here it is again...

I just completed my second foray into the rear brakes on my '05 E350. First time, the right rear inner pad wore away, right down to the metal. The outer pad looked like brand new! Also, the pads on the other side were just like brand new. The van only has 40,000 miles on it. I checked the slides (nice and smooth), and put it back together with only one new pad on it.

Less than a month later, I am hearing the grinding again so I crawl under the van, and this time it is the left rear inner pad..... Again, the slides are nice and smooth operating, so again I just replaced the bad one. Again, the outer is just like brand new. Sounds like this is going to be an ongoing problem??? Anybody had this happen to them? Is there something I can do to prevent it in the future?

On a side note, I had a HECK of a time removing the lug nuts on both sides. I have an old van that spend 3 years parked in the woods, which I had an easier job removing the nuts. The studs on my new van were all rusted, to the point where I broke two of the studs off when I couldn't move the nuts any more. What gives?

The caliper is supposed to float above the disc, when the piston pushes the caliper should compress around the disc equally. Either something is blocking the caliper from moving, or something is not aligned to provide pressure on the outside pad.

I would compress the caliper all the way open, and watch it move to squeeze the pad while someone presses on the brakes. This should give you an idea on what's not moving.

Might have a sticking caliper also.

I would make sure everything is cleaned and lubed the way it should be, see if that takes care of it. If not put new rear calipers on. Also are rear rotors warped?
