I was in the local junkyard today and I ran across a few old lincoln marks and crown vics from late 80's early 90's. Did these motors have anything special about them like heads or intake?
80's 5.0's... Been told they're prone ta bustin' up cranks & ****...nuthin'
special about the heads & just a damn Holley carb...personnally Idetest
Holley carbs! Leakers...havent used one since the mid 70's tune worse than
a quadra-junk...'course...thats just my good-'ol-virgin-blue-oval humble
opinion...
BY THE WAY...in MY opinion...the BEST carb EVER manufactured was an
early AUTOLITE 4100 4-BBL...tghat's it...
I got a '83 carb'd motor thats from a '83 Mustang GT 4-speed car sittin' on a stand in the corner of the garage I throw stuff at every once in a while just for giggles that my girl "gave" to me when we we got together...OK "engaged"...livin'-together...whather ya wanna call it...
When she threw her "EX" out he was in such a "hurry" to split he left a
bunch of "stuff" behind...
When I first cleaned out the garage out I scrapped the grenaded
4-speed...the motor is complete...carb-to-crank...even electronics...only thing missin' is the oil pan...
I guess I'm just savin' it as a "backup" for ...
Anyway...for my '56 F100 street-rod build...I drove it home with a runnin'
1970 302 2-BBL truck motor backed by a C4...
'Course it ran like...welll...ya know...crap...been sittin' fer years!!!
I'm rebuildin' that 70's motor for a couple reasons:
1) It's a "seasoned" block!
2) Thicker material & higher zinc content.
3) NOTHIN' wrong with a flat tappet motor!
4) Less costs in motor build. NO need for forged parts!

Lincoln Mk VII motors had most if not all the same goodies as the Mustang motors; both rated 225 horse, the highest the 302/5.0 ever got iirc.
87-92 Lincoln Marks will have a genuine 5.0HO with forged pistons and HO roller cam, same HO intake too, and the computer and engine harness would be good for MAF conversions. The CV motors are low po 5.0's that are even more pathetic than the truck motors.. but they would be a source for the roller cam spyder assembly and lifters if you were converting a non-roller truck motor. The only production motors to get GT40 heads and intake were the Explorer/Mountaineer, Mustang Cobra, and Lightning.
No, all truck motors used 19lb injectors and produced at least 185hp, the CV 5.0 used 14lb injectors and was rated at about 150hp.
So if you use 19lb injectors in a car motor does it help or do you need other mods. The motor in my 90 was replaced by a car motor but I do not know what injectors are in it. It runs fine but I have not checked what kind of mileage I am getting. It has an AOD with the standard 3.55 differential.
The injectors have to be matched to the computer.. so if you're using the truck computer you need 19lb(orange) injectors. The 14lb squirters would be grey.
