Tach Trouble

I had my motor installed by a friend of a friend of a friend he did it fairly cheap and seems to run good. i cant get ahold of him now i heard he might be in jail lol, but he also installed a new tach and it works great until i pull the headlight switch then the tach just quits. If its spinning 2800 when i pull the switch the tach freezes at 2800. Push the switch in and tach works great again. Same deal if i only pull it out one click to the parking lights. Any one ever seen this? Should be an easy fix i hope. I only see one black wire coming through the firewallgoing to the coil. Coming out of the tach there are
4 wires i just havent been able to see where the other three are going.

I am hoping someone has seen this before and i just need to swith a wire around or something

red wire is power, and would change its power source. Black is the ground, white is for the light bulb, green goes to negitive side of coil.

The shop is gonna take care of it all, even though this guy did the install on the side, because they built the motor and he worked for them. They are saying that he burnt the tach up when he installed it wrong so they are replacing it at their expense. I guess mine isnt the only job he half assed before he disappeared either.
