Kinda strange question for u guys....I recently installed a brush guard on my 2000 expedition that i got used. The lower brakets attatch at the frame between the frame and tow hooks using the factory hardware. It seems flimsy not very stong let alone a "Brush Guard'. Does anyone out there know if there is supposed to be mounting points or brackets that attach to the header panel through the grill or something as there are slots that seem to indicate this? I am sure it is the proper application for my Expy so thats not a concern. Am I expecting function out of something designed just for looks? Thanks in advance !
I have a GoRhino wrap-a-round brushguard on my 2002 and it has 2 brackets which come out between the bumber and the grille for upper support, in addition to the 2 lower brackets which attach by the factory tow hooks you mentioned. It is very durable and solid. I have seen other brands which are more for looks and they only have the 2 lower mounting brackets - very flimsy and wobbly.
GoRhino is a more serious brand. They make most of the push bars you see on Crown Vic police cars.
Yes, indeed! We do more GoRhino installations for the police industry at work than any other brand, including Pro-Gard & Setina. They are a very well built and constructed line and they stand behind their product. I used to have a 94 Crown Vic with the police package I used to demo products for work and was my daily driver. I put a GoRhino pushbar on it. Had that car for 4 years until a car blew a red light and slammed into me at an estimated 50mph according to the police report, hitting the front clip on the driver's side. Front of my car shifted a good foot to the right, but that GoRhino didn't budge. Stayed in place. I think it and the roof were the only straight pieces on the car. I've had the one on my Expedition for about 5 years now and it's still going strong. I wash it regularly and put a coat of wax on it every now and then.
The brushguard I have looks identical to yours except the one i have is stainless. Would you be willing to email a couple of pics of your upper brackets? I can fabricate a couple here at work. Thanks....

Sure, be happy to. My Expedition is in the shop today for annual state inspection, but once I get her back, I'll snap some pics and send them to you.
I got mine through work and got our GoRhino distributor's price. I paid $265 for mine, complete. It only took about 30 minutes to install. Very well written instructions.
