86 F350 Dana 60. It snowed the other day and no 4x4, I jacked up the front and spun the wheels while hubs where locked ( manual hubs), The left spun the u-joint in the axle the right did not. Would I be correct to say that the hub is gone? And where can I get one at a resonable cost? Thanks. Tom
Agreed, first take the hub apart and inspect it to see why it isn't working. If you see nothing wrong clean it real good, as well as the inside on the housing, and reinstall. I put a dab of grease on my finger and put a light coat on all the parts before installing. Do not pack the housing or hub with grease as this will prevent it from working properly.
If the hub is broken you can get a set of MileMarker hubs for $160 at your local Autozone. A lot of guys like Warn hubs, but they are almost twice as much. I beat on my MileMarkers pretty hard and have never had a failure.
I've also heard (don't take this as gospel) that when Warn Dana 50/60 hubs break they often shatter in the housing and are a pain to get all the bits out. Never broke a set of Warn hubs on any of my small or big hub trucks, only broke stockers, so couldn't tell ya for sure.
