Also a new development, I was laid-off as of Jan 2nd so I dought I will be buying a molded liner anytime soon. I was also backing down a driveway and hit a low stone wall tearing up my wheel cover.
This is my headliner mount. Read above for the info on how i did it. I'm only 17 so this was really the best I could do, im really picky about wires being seen so thats y I decided to do it this way.
Cobra 29LTD BT cb radio install in headliner.
Head on view
hole I cut in headliner and roof
One more view of the hole.
If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me.
thanks, let me know what you all think.
with the exception of cutting the roof, thats exactly what i want to do. now that i see that it can be done in my model/year truck and basically my radio( cobra 29LTD classic), thats more incentive to do it. plus, i can show my dad the pics so he knows it can be done.
btw, it looks beautiful, and clean. i hate wires all over the place too. how well can you see the channel? instead of cuttin into the roof, im gunna put a piece (or a few) of metal between the cab roof and the mounting bracket to drop the front down, plus im gunna turn it so i can see the front better.
fyi, the dual antenna thing, i may be mistaken, but i thought somewhere i heard unless u run them upwards of 10 feet apart the signal actually gets weaker. i imagine with proper antenna tuning itll work fine, just goin on what i heard.
off topic, but Dwayne3406,
nice Pete. what are the specs? hmm i wonder what motor it has. meow
i mounted mine under the glove box on the drivers side of the passenger dash sorta off center of the middle of the truck, hafta lean over to mess with it but its out of the way and it was quick andd easy in and out
That's sorta where mine is, under the ashtray. I used one of the factory brace bolts (on right, the darker one) and the rest are self taping screws. I also unhooked the cigarette lighter and used it for a power lead.

I am 6'1" so i can see the face fine. i was going to turn it towards me but then realized i would need to fut a bigger hole in the room so i opted not to. other then that i love it. its looks wicked sick at night too.
and thanks for the comments, nice to know the things i like other people like as well, makes it all worth it.
12engine is right unless you mount them 10 foot apart it can hurt your reception. I myself am thinkin bout mounting them on the mirrors on my '94 since I have the low swing away mount mirriors that are the oems any input on this would be greatly apriciated!!
I am going to fun the dual 4 foot antennas but have the one on the driver side be the one that is hooked up and the one on passenger side just be a dummy for just looks. The only thing running a dual set up does is take your signal and make it into a more oblong shape to project more up and down the road. thats why most big rigs run them.
I mounted mine, with short screws just under the Cigarette lighter. Run the power wires into the cig lighter, and the cable out the drivers door. Is there some kind of hole in the rear of these trucks we can stick the cb through?
[quote=SpeedRebel09;6983419]Kinda right in front of your Rear- view ain't it?quote]
Eh, not really, I did move my mirror up on the windshield because it was always in the way when i was going around sharp turns. The only thing that gets in the way is the mic cord, but its not that bad.
this is how I mounted the CB and the Antennas'. The liner was pulling away from the mounting cardboard so I deleted it. Kind of like the black roof. hide the wires. The antennas' are basicly clamped to th rain rail/gutter and that will not work. It is just temp as the cable is to short and I think the side to side motion when driving will weaken the weld there till it cracks. So moving them to the bed asap.

see thats exactly what I want to do. id deff take the antennas of the gutters. the bed pockets work great.
My son wanted a cb radio for our ford f250 for christmas. So, i got the cb and the dual antennas. My son and I were out looking at the truck and where to mount it at. The idea was to moutn it from the roof but to do that, we would have to take down the whole head liner and teh whole 9 yards. We were also thinking about mounting it underneath of the dash. But we couldnt figure that out either. Does anyone have any advice on what to do about this? does anyone have a cb radio on their truck? thanks for looking
David
I had a CB in my truck at one time & I had a fabricated bracket given to me that I used to mount it. I have the bench seat in my 93 that has the plastic cup holder on the front off the seat. The bracket uses the 2 studs that the cup holder attaches. I removed the studs, then put the bracket in & reinstalled the studs. The bracket has a 90 degree bend in it toward the driver's side & the CB mounts there. I thought at first the CB would be in the way but it wasn't.
In my truck I used an old mount for a car-phone that used to be in the truck, took the mount off the bottom of the phone and made a bracket to fasten it to the cb then the other end attaches to the floor. Only takes four screws to mount it and its adjustable in every direction. Its also easy to remove if need be.
I was laid off the first of the year so I have not been able to order the bed mounts as cash is tight. planon finaly installing the grill and lights I have sitting in the basemant. new thread for that.
