When I bought my pickup(an '84 f150) the previous owner said the guy he bought it from had the a/c system removed. Anyone know where I can get a diagram of it? I still have the control ***** for it in the cab and the compressor is still on the engine. Sorry pic is so big, camera takes pictures in one mode only.
i guess we'll go off this one then lol. The setup was ther when I got the truck so I think the prev owner did some "modding". Heater blows nice and fast but i'm lookin to head south soon and need a/c - hence the need for a diagram or pictures or something to go on lol.
It's a fairly straight-forward setup, I've seen 'em in the junkyards. I'll bet you could take it to
a garage that does AC coolant recharges & related work and they could figure it out pretty
quickly. It'd prolly be helpful if you first remove the dash pad, it'll allow for easier access to
all the components under there (although you haven't really explained what the actual
problem is).
Unless you're taking the truck to the Equator, I really don't anticipate a need for AC in
December, but....
december or any other month in florida is lovely a/c weather and what i'm specificaly asking for is some sort of diagram or pictures or something on how to rebuild/rehook-up the dealer a/c. I went looking for the recharge port when i first bought it and couldn't find it lol(that's when the prev owner told be the a/c was removed).
ther are two lines beside the heater lines going into the heater box,and a wire behind the pulley on the compressor pulley witch is probably the clutch wire.there are two hoses on top of the compressor to.didn't see air drier or condenser, they could be out of the picture.never seen rubber hose and hose clamps on an ac system.about 18 years ago i worked for a company that inataled aftermarket ac on ford vehicles for dealers, lots of cars only 1 truck.never seen a system like this. hope this helps. good luck
yea I couldn't find the blow-off/recharge port and I searched over the entire engine. All I found was the compressor still atatched and free-spinging. I can usualy figure out what most fords have but this one is a stumper.
I'm pretty sure this was a "Dealer Installed" A/C. I had a simular one on an old Ranchero and the Evap/Fan Unit hung under the dash. You'd probably be better off finding a junker with "Factory air" and installing it on your truck. I never liked the add-on units because they didn't work through the defroster vents. But you might get lucky and find an add-on in a junkyard. At one time they were popular on bigger trucks like F600, etc.
