2 possible major issues

04 250 psd smells like coolant when towing. Also slow cranking when starting. Took it to the shop and it died in the service drive. Got a call later that day and said truck was fine. They cound not produce the coolant smell and no coolant was leaking and the truck not starting in the driveway was anyone's guess. The P/U 4.5 yrs old and the batteries haven't been replaced. The other day it also cranked for a while then stopped. All needles on guages went far right then reset. I guess my 2 main questions are.
1. Since there are so many head or EGR cooler problems out there should I push the dealership harder to resolve it?

2. Would simply replacing the batteries resolve these strange electrical issues? ( pretty much just the slow starting)

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Will

You might be able to get by with just replacing the batteries, but if the truck was dieing and your gauges were fluttering then you probably ruined your alternator be prepared for a heart attack when you see how much that bad boy is make sure you get one with a lifetime warranty.

Get your batteries replaced and possibly alternator and then hook up the trailer and have the tech ride with you. Make sure you get it fixed before its out of warranty. They might be just trying to delay you until its your dime.

could be you are in need of new batteries, mine were slow cranking so i replaced them and all was better. i would push the dealer to do pressure test to try and resolve the issues.

Thanks for the recommendations. Duely noted. I'll take action in the am.
