I'm looking to lower my F-150 just a little bit to give it that custom look...the problem is, I don't have a clue how to go about it or what I'll need. I DO NOT want a low rider here, just a lower center of gravity. Will this damage the truck and how can I do it correctly. Also, how much money am I looking at? Can you help this rookie???
Finally, there is someone who wants to lower a truck for the right reasons, performance gains. Everyone else seems to want to lower a pickup just to make it look worse than ever before. I really don't know how exactly to lower the new F-150s, but I just wanted to comment on how good it is to see somone lower a truck for performance gains.
Definatly! I was looking at how the Lightnings sit and got to thinking how much better my truck would perform if it had that lower center of gravity. I like the ability to go off road a little bit, but lets face it, you can only do so much off roading with a 2WD. Can anyone else give me advice on how to lower my truck for better preformance and what to watch out for??
Just pick up a truck magazine from the book store and look through it, you should see several ads for suspension kits to lower your 99 f150.
I have a 99 f150 supercab that I lowered using a Western chassis 3/5" drop kit. I highly recommend this kit for anyone looking for a "sport truck drop". The kit definately improved the handling and looks of my truck, but I can still go over a standard curb when I have to.
If you have any more questions about the kit or the install, please feel free to ask.
Did you have to sacrifice your ride quality? One reumor I've heard is when you drop a truck, the ride becomes horrible...is this true? About how much was the whole process in your case? If you have a picture of your truck with your kit on it I'd love to see it. Post it here or e-mail me at BCWallace@trevecca.edu
Thanks for the info and I'll check out that kit!!!
Anyone else have any information that may help me or want t ocomment on the performance of their lowered truck???
