Haven't done any reseach on this yet(bad weather), but does any know if the wiring is installed from the factory, even if you don't have factory installed driving lights.? We bought an XLS, w/o lights, and I was wondering if the wiring is in the wiring loom, so that I wouldn't have to run my own wiring. And is it under the dash also?? I didn't think about the lamps when we bought it, as I want to buy the factory kit when the weather changes(spring)...
Don't they make the XLT version at the K.C. plant also. Those seem to have driving lamps installed from the factory.. I just figured if they come off the same assembly line, Ford would make it easy on themselves, and just use one loom for all...Didn't know there was a Canadian version??? Also, I.m not talking about Daytime Running Lights-Driving and/or Fog lamps is what I asked about..
All Escapes are built at KC but that doesn't mean that they get the same parts. If it's like other assembly lines, they batch similiar builds in groups and change over as needed.
I seem to remember a couple threads about people adding fog lights by purchasing all the parts and putting them on. I'm pretty certain it was on this site. Have you tried searching the forum?
i just went to ford parts and bought each light and a switch, no kit. i got my parts at cost from a friend and spen about $100.00 . if i had to do t again i would try one of these pull-a-part junk yards that seem to be popping up all over and i bet the used parts would be $50.00 at best.
When you say "driving lights" are you referring to the automatic lights (on at dusk off at dawn)? I was wondering if there was a factory harness installed on the escapes as well. That way you could just go to a junkyard and get the switch and photoelectric sensor. I know with my 99 F150 the harness is already there for auto lamps. If not, this is a really good alternative that I'm looking into: Advanced Headlamp Control Module
