Has anyone tried the recon led brake light kit on the Ex. After looking at it on the website, they only show it on a 250/350 style. I am wondering if it would fit on the Ex. It seems that there is more clearence on the 250/350 from the top of the bumper to the bottom on the tailgate, than there is from the top of the bumper to the bottom of the opening doors for the Ex.
Simple question is. Is there enough clearence to fit the light between the two pieces as it shows on the picture?
If anyone has a pic please if not to much trouble post it or tell me if you have it a gallery and I'll find it.
im almost 100% it would fit. i had one in between my gate and my shaved/molded rollpan and it had miles of room. so im pretty positive it will fit on the x without any problems. it is also pretty flexible.i think i still have mine laying around if you are interested
I had thought about doing one of those brake-stop-etc....strips too. The real problem is that the Excursion has a plastic piece between the doors and bumper...and it's not flat.

Have this on my EX there is room, check the spacing with the doors closed as you could mount it too high. the bar has self-tapping screws rectangular shims and does bend.
I installed yhis on my X and here is what I think,
a- only the brake light leds light up, the back up white ones dont unless you do some fun wiring
b- the edges and corners HAVE to be trimmed and rounded to fit in the location or you have serious rub with the pocket it mounts into
c- i had to paint the reflective housing outside the lighted area so it didnt look thrown together and cheap
d- it is a plug and play set-up, i liked that and it does look cool, no pics, lost camera but if you want write me and i will call some friends for their camera
hope this helps and even after the bad things i said, once i modified it it looks KEWL and unique,
