Fresh Tracks

Merry Christmas Everyone,

I live in the Sierra east of Sacramento and like a lot of the country we've been getting several cold storms with low elevation snow. I generally commute in a Toyota 4x4 PU. However this morning I drove the beast down to work. Plugged it into a timer to start 2 hours before start up. Turned the key and started like it was the middle of June. Sweet! Put her into 4 low to get from my unplowed private street (the misses will plow later with our Honda Rubicon quad) to the main road where 4 high worked fine. It's now Christmas morning. 5:00 am. No one's been out and I'm making fresh tracks
as if I was the first skier down a powder run. It dons on me why I enjoy my Ford so much and why I don't take it out of the barn more often. After about
20 miles I'm out of the snow and in just plain old boring rain. No one's on the freeway and I'm just cruising while listening to a George Strait Christmas CD. The perfect commute to start a 48 hour shift. I might not be groochy today.

48 hour shifts suck. Good choice on the tunes tho, very very good choice (keep in mind I'm Russian, lol)

I wish I had 4x4, but my dually seems to be doing better in fresh snow than many SRW 2wd trucks. A locker would be nice though, I gotta hit the junkyards to see if I can scavenge an LSD or something cause wheel slip sucks.
