Water Proofing Distributor

So I was thinking of sealing up my distributor so that I can get it wet without issues. It has a cap on top which I assume is a vent. If I were to seal the distributor completely with silicone or something and then just run a hose from that capped hole up would it work fine?

If you seal it off moisture that is still in the dizzy will not be able to get out. Might cause you problems in the future.

The best route to go is to use the silicone to seal and then run the vent via a hose to manifold vacuum. I've also seen the above set up the another vent added the that one hosed to the air cleaner inside the filter. This is what a lot of boat racers do.
