A few months ago when I put my Warn hubs on I checked my front brake pads and they still had alot of pad left to them. I have drove less then 2000 miles and now they sound like they are grinding this only started today and it seems to get louder every time I brake. I will check them tomorrow if it doesn't rain. So if they are bad I will get new pads and rotors.
I have to do this on the cheaper side since I am layed off til March or April. I want some good pads and rotors that will last a while but on the cheaper side. I don't tow much anymore since farming has slowed down alot here and since we have a 97 250 we have been using it more now for the heavy stuff. So with that said save me some money guys and gals!
I will avoid OE fords I know they are bad to warp there was someone on here at one point in time talking about some sloted rotors that were half the price of powerslots.

I'll be keeping an eye out on this one. I know that I have to do my fronts at some point and I would like to go with slotted also. I have to pull mine apart soon I have a squeak that comes and goes. It's driving me nuts!!!
How many miles on the current set up Justin? If they're stock and lasted this long, I'd consider going back with the same. If they're aftermarket and already failed, I'd stay away from that brand.
I honestly have no idea I got the truck at a 128K from 60K-128K she towed pretty heavily over the road (68K in two years). I am sure they are not stock how can you tell?
I put on the napa pads a while back and all was good. Until 1 day i was hauling a large load and the trailer brakes went out and I smoke the brakes a couple times.
Now some time when I hit the bracks I get a vibration that will almost jar you.
I had some cheap aftermarket pads that were on my truck when I got it. They had all kinds of pad left, but would make a terrible racket when I would stop and I couldn't stand it. I went with OEM Ford pads and i'm happy with them. I kept the same rotors and had them turned. I can't remember what the pads cost, i'll have to look at my records.
I know I haven't been on the brakes that hard, I will take a picture tomorrow if I get the wheel off. If the OE pads are as cheap as hawk pads I will go with that.
Yay me too! My front rotors and pads are shot... Lucky for me the local parts store carries good after market stuff and i get a 20% discount there... AND i got $170 in gift cert.s to there! So tomarrow im looking at pads and rotors oil change, and maybe some bilstiens for the front while im at it...
