Engine Saver Question?
Its designed to pump the oil through the engine before and after start and running the engine. I believe that it pumps the oil to 55psi for a few minutes on startup and keeps the oil pumping for 6 minutes after shutdown.
The oil is drawn out of the oil pan bolt and pumped through the hole for the sending unit or through an adapter for the oil filter.
Has anyone installed or used this type of setup. I like that a hose can be put on the oil pan adapter so that theres no mess to deal with when the wind picks up.
If I hang on to it I'll probably install it whenever I have enough money to pick up a new turbo system.
the main bearings are feed oil pressure from the top half of the bearing the rotation of the crank pulls it through the bottom bearing
having 55psi of oil pressure on a static engine hydraulically forces the crankshaft down into the lower bearings
but everything else in the engine will benefit from it
at key on, it primes the oil system so everything is lubed at start, and at key off, it runs for 3 minutes to cool the turbo bearings. it has been in the truck fo over 20 years now, and still works great.
I might yet install this, I was looking at the receipt and it shows that the kit was custom upgraded with the marine standard pump and the truck fittings to allow it to connect to a truck. The reciept shows it costing about 435 dollars in 2000. I looked the kit up on google and the same thing is now going for over 500.
