2004 4x4 Problem

I have a 2004 f250 SD w/4x4 on the fly. It will engage then about after a couple miles 4wheel drive seems to stop working. I can turn it off then back on and it will start working again.

Sounds like a vacuum leak at the hub. Have you serviced your hubs at all since you've had the truck?

No I haven't. I bought the truck last year and the 4x4 worked fine. How do I sevice the hubs?

Engage 4X4, turn on your heater. Does it blow defrost no matter what?
If so, you have a vacuum leak. Check your lines to the hub from the right fender well.
Lock them manually at the hub, do they work?
Yep, prolly vacuum.
