clunk in front end ?..

On my o6 250 4wd with esof, when i switch from drive to reverse while in 4h and hit the gas i hear a clunk in the drivers side front end. Im not slaming it between gears just stoppin and reversing.I have to wait at least 2-3 seconds after switching into reverse before i hit the gas and it will not make any noise.I noticed that where the noise seemed to be coming from is where the front shaft enters into the front differential.I first thought that it was the hub not engaging properly but i always lock them when i use 4wd.i wonder if it might be the u joint?.. anyone know of a problem out there or think what could be making it?. It dosent occur in 2wd so thats out ,and im not one of those guys who dont even wait for the truck to stop to launch off while switching between gears . Thanks

i would start by checking seals changing fluids. there could be a chance that dirt has entered the system somewhere and has gummed everything up causing slower movement of internal parts. -Just a thought

yeah check ur front driveshaft both for bolt tightness and Ujoint wear..

if the shaft is tight then see how much play u have in the ringgear..there should be a small amount of movement, but not excessive..

i suspect u got a worn ujoint thou.
